My personal life is nobody’s problem: Anushka

Remember Rachel and Ross from the hit TV show, Friends? Well, Bollywood’s ‘newest couple’ Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh seem to have taken a leaf out of their book. The reason: the Band Baaja Baraat (2010) actors fight and patch up almost as frequently as Rachel and Ross used to, on the cult sit-com. Apparently, the latest showdown took place at the recently concluded IIFA ceremony in Toronto, Canada.
But Anushka isn’t amused. Reacting sharply to the alleged ‘constant fights’ between Ranveer and her, she says, “I don’t understand the interest in my personal life. What’s happening between Ranveer and me isn’t something for others to bother about. I choose to ignore this talk since it would be silly to comment and add fuel to it.”
Rumour has it that the couple had an argument regarding Ranveer’s late arrival for a dance rehearsal at IIFA. It’s also believed that she didn’t like the fact that he was bonding with actor Sonakshi Sinha, who was performing with him. Incidentally, the Dabangg (2010) girl had also revealed that she has a crush on Ranveer on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan. Ask Anushka if everything is fine between them and she snaps back, “That should be nobody’s problem. If I utter anything, I would light off a firecracker of sorts. So, I’d rather remain quiet about it. He is the hero of my upcoming film (Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl). I have great respect and admiration for him and we love working together.”

Anushka: I can't do 'gadhaa majdoori'

When Anushka Sharma signed her yet untitled film with Shahrukh Khan, many wondered whether she was restricting herself to the Yash Chopra camp and would ever do films with other banners as well. After all this year, except for PATIALA HOUSE that came very early and LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL which would be coming at the fag end of the year, Anushka has more or less a barren slate for herself. However such rumours have finally been laid to rest with the actress now signing a film with Ajay Devgn, Vishal Bhardwaj and Kumar Mangat.
One does feel though that with the kind of talent and fan following that she comes with, won't she benefit from picking up many more films, especially so when many of her contemporaries are signing films by dozens?
"If at all I had to do that, I would have taken this step two years back after RAB NE BANA DI JODI itself. I could have signed five films and stayed happy thinking that my future was secure. But did I do that? No, right," she reasons, "That's the way I want to build my career. I want to make a gradual progression. Even if that means not facing the camera for few weeks at stretch, it is okay. It is this approach that worked for me. Cliched as it may sound but my work spoke for myself."

Vishal Bharadwaj's much-anticipated collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, 2 States, is now firmly on the backburner with the director finalising the main cast of his next fim, a social satire starring his good friend Ajay Devgn and SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi co-star Anushka Sharma.
A source close to the actress said that when she got the offer from Vishal, whom she had wanted to work with for a while, she accepted instantly.
"I loved Anushka in Band Baaja Baraat. But more than that, I can't forget her very impressive debut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

She was not introduced with the poise and glamour associated with typical Yash Raj heroines. But newcomer Anushka Sharma, who danced her way into audiences’ hearts with Shah Rukh Khan in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, says she can always glam up for her next film for the banner.
“Even when girls are presented as ’seedhi-saadhi’ in a Yash Raj film, she is glamorous. And coming from a glam background I wouldn’t have minded being glossy in my first film. But you know what? This was such a huge opportunity.
