Anushka Sharma chats with Filmfare about Ranveer Singh, infidelity and mindless cinema

You’ve been seen hanging out with Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh a lot. Do all of you belong to the same group of friends?
See, I wouldn’t say that Ranbir, Shahid and Ranveer are one group of friends but when we get the time we definitely hang out together. I prefer hanging out with people more my age.

Describe your relationship with Ranveer Singh.
We don’t speak as much as we used to but there is no bad blood between us. I respect him as an actor. He saw so much success with his first film. Now it is important for him to be serious about what he is doing and take responsibility for it. When you get the kind of headstart he did, it is important to remain grounded and humble. I’ll always care for him.

What sort of girl would be apt for Ranveer?
He will need someone who is not very ambitious. Someone who will be able to take care of him, his home and be the quintessential housewife. Someone who dresses up really well and waits for him to return home. Trust me, some guys may laugh at this but Ranveer takes these things very seriously. (Laughs) You can pick up any matrimonial ad from the newspaper and that is the girl Ranveer needs in his life.

Is Ranveer more in love with you than you are with him?
You can’t take Ranveer seriously. He is a bit mental. Today if he feels like talking about me he will talk about me, tomorrow if he feels like talking about someone else he will talk about that person. I don’t know how fond he is of me, I can only speak for myself. He is loud as a person but I find that endearing. If you have a headache, then it can get irritating but he’s so entertaining. You just need to sit in a room with him and he will have you in splits. Having said that I’ve also spent a lot of time with him when there was no one else, he can also be quiet and sensitive. A side only people close to him get to see.

Has a man ever cheated on you?
Yes and for me there can be no explanation for cheating in a relationship. It’s a no-no. You can’t do that. If you’re committed to me in a relationship you can’t believe infidelity is fine. I’ve never cheated on my man. For me, fidelity is most important in a relationship. It’s disrespectful if you cheat on someone. It’s like you’re treating a girl like a piece of meat or commodity. Nowadays when I speak to boys about fidelity I think I’m speaking to aliens. They don’t understand fidelity.

Choose: mindless big film like Bodyguard or smart average film like That Girl In Yellow Boots?
It depends on when the film comes to me. If I’ve already done a Bodyguard, then I will do That Girl In Yellow Boots and if I’ve just done That Girl in Yellow Boots then I will do Bodyguard. I would plan it in a way where I would get to do different kinds of films. I wouldn’t do three films like Bodyguard back to back. One shouldn’t just do films for hits and big numbers. One needs to mix and match. And I think I’ve managed that so far in my career.
