Anushka Sharma of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi fame can't wait to show off her dance skills in this weekend's episode of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.
Rajul Hegde caught up with the pretty actress during her rehearsal at Jhalak house to know what she's been up to, and whether she's signed any new films.

How does it feel to be on Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa?

It feels very good. And this is a great platform to launch the Rab Ne DVD. It is a very popular show and a big platform for us.

Do you really need to rehearse for Haule Haule, the song you'll be dancing on, on the show?

If you notice, it's Surendar Suri (Shah Rukh Khan) who dances to Hole hole in the film, not me. I performed on Dance pe. I'm dancing to a remix version of Hole Hole. Hard Kaur has rapped very nicely to it.

Do you watch Jhalak?

Yes.

According to you, who is the best dancer?

I think it's Hard Kaur [smiles]. She is full of energy, a fabulous performer and a thorough entertainer. It's fun to watch her dance.

How do you rate yourself as a dancer?

I think I am all right. It depends on the people who work with you like [choreographers] Shaimak Davar and Vaibhavi Merchant. I don't have any professional training in dance. I just followed their instructions.

Any tips for the Jhalak contestants?

All of them are fabulous dancers, what tips can I give them? In fact, I'm trying to learn from them.

Are you more confident of dancing now, after being part of a dance-related film?

Yes. I am more used to it and comfortable now. I want to do better every time.

All the contestants are dancing with their partners. Aren't you going to miss your partner?

Mera mann mein Suri honge. [smiles]

Tell us about your three-film contract with Yash Raj Films.
When I signed Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Yash Raj, I signed the contract to do two more films with them. It is not an exclusive contract like it was reported.

So are you open to work outside Yash Raj?

Yes. I got a few offers and everything was okayed from my side. But there was a communication gap so it didn't materialise.

Are you doing any films?

Yes. I am doing a Yash Raj film opposite Shahid Kapur, which will be directed by Parmeet Sethi. I fell in love with the script when I read it. I am so excited to start work on it.

Do you think Yash Raj's contract applied brakes to your rising career?

I don't agree with that. Even when I was modelling, I was very choosy about my assignments. I don't want to sign four-five films just because I want people to talk about it. I want to do things that excite me. This might sound cliched but I believe in choosing my work carefully, like I did during my modelling days.

How has life changed post Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?

Now, people recognize me when I go out. My friends ask me the same question but I don't think life has changed much apart from giving interviews to the media.
