I am a non-vegetarian but: I prefer eating vegetarian food and like only certain dishes in non-vegetarian. In vegetarian food, I like eating parathas and veggies.

I get up early only when: I have to report for work. Otherwise, I sleep till late.

The first thing I have: Is a glass of water followed by a cup of tea.

Breakfast comprises: Egg and a glass of fresh juice.

Anushka Sharma , the debutante of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , says in real life she is very much like her character in the film.

For a girl coming from modeling background to play a non-glamorous character convincingly in her first film may not be commonplace in Bollywood, but Anushka says she was quite comfortable in this transition from ramp to reel.

"Even modelling is a kind of performance. On the ramp you are representing a concept. In a film, you're projecting an individual. But the transition wasn't hard for me. Because in real life I'm as simple as the girl I play in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. Yes, I do like to dress up and walk the ramp. But that isn't the real me," Anushka is quoted by IANS.

After she resolved not to dance at weddings, Kareena Kapoor recently made news for declining to perform with Katrina, Priyanka, Deepika and Bipasha
at an upcoming awards function.

But the real surprise is her replacement – newcomer Anushka Sharma. “The idea was to get all the girls who made a mark in Bollywood in 2008, and truly, Anushka is one of the them,” says Mohammed Morani of Cineyug, the organisers of the show.

The year 2008 was rather blah for our heroines. Not too many author-backed roles, nothing intensely extraordinary.

Despite that, a few of them left a nice, lingering aftertaste with a stirring performance and striking presence.

I couldn’t have been happier. There’s nothing better than your debut movie’s success.

But it has met with mixed reactions from the critics and the audience.
It’s natural that if a chunk of the viewers like a film, a chunk will rubbish it too. Plenty of people must have entered the auditorium thinking it will be one of those flashy high-end Yash Raj movies. But it wasn’t. I think it’s slowly growing on everyone.

Of course. Even a single line written by the critics is welcome. I took all the negative and positive comments sportingly.

Shah Rukh Khan became the star attraction even though the story was about the two of you.
It’s a movie about a couple but in our case, the man takes the story forward and the woman follows him. Rab ne.. was promoted as a Shah Rukh-Aditya Chopra movie.. which it is. And in any case if people like the girl, they can appreciate her presence in the story as well.

Anushka Sharma tells Rajiv Vijayakar that the role she played in 'Rab Ne...' bears a close resemblance to who she is in real life.

She gushes when I ask her if she’s set to grab all the Newbie awards this year. She is incredulous when I tell her that her performance in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi belied a screen debut and seemed to show an actor who was ten films old. “Really?” she asks, wide-eyed. “Thanks so much for saying that!” Welcome, lady, but we mean it too.

She’s wearing the same tracksuit for the media interviews at the Yash Raj Studios that she wore in the film. And she tells you that she’s a lot like her character. But we have a grouse — she refuses to part even with her email, saying “The only way to get in touch with me is through them (YRF).” But her flight has taken off and one day, not far away, she will be a free bird.
